Mark Mine is Director of Disney Studios Content’s Technology Innovation Group (TIG), whose mission is to find better ways to make movies today and develop new ways to tell stories tomorrow, focusing on the implementation and integration of advanced AR/VR and Real-Time technologies.
Prior to that, Mark worked for almost 20 years at Walt Disney Imagineering (WDI) where he was Founder and Head of the Creative Technology Group. His leadership in the development of 3D immersive PreVisualization tools helped to significantly advance Imagineering’s creative design practice. His introduction of cutting-edge VR technology into the WDI design process, such as head-mounted displays and the DISH (Disney Immersive SHowroom), a world-class immersive virtual reality theater, forever changed the way Imagineers design, evaluate, and present concepts and ideas. Mark and his team helped to deliver dozens of innovative guest experiences, including Radiator Springs Racers and Toy Story Midway Mania at Disney California Adventure, and the new TRON Lightcycle Power Run at Shanghai Disneyland.
Mark began his professional career as a Spacecraft System Engineer at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, California working on the Voyager Missions to the outer planets. Mark has a Bachelor of Aerospace Engineering from the University of Michigan, a Master's of Computer Science and Electrical Engineering from the University of Southern California, and Master's and PhD degrees in Computer Science from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.
