Jun 12

12:30 PM - 12:55 PM
Room 102B

Description

Extended reality (XR) simulation is a critical tool that enables us to envision and prepare for the future of healthcare. Such promise has become particularly evident through work in the realm of precision medicine and genomic technologies.

This presentation introduces frameworks for using XR to create interactive research scenarios that forecast how healthcare providers will integrate emerging genomic (and other -omic) tools into their clinical workflows and how such tools can be best positioned to inform decision-making, engage patients, and encourage health-promoting behavior. Resulting data-driven predictions can allow stakeholders to identify potential challenges and optimize implementation strategies before deployment. The presentation will showcase research examples and discuss risks and benefits of integrating AI into simulated future scenarios.
