Key Takeaways & Analysis
– When it comes to best practices in XR game design, there's no one better than Nicole Lazzaro.
   – One of her latest works is the interacive experience for Vision Pro, Follow the Rabbit.
   – She also created the 4 Keys to Fun framework, used widely by interactive game developers.
– Going back further than the age of XR, she had one of the first mobile games on the iPhone.
– But whether it's for web, mobile, or advanced XR like Vision Pro, there are common best practices.
   – For example, develop a passion and love for a given platform, based on its capabilities.
– Then, lean into those unique platform characteristics and build experiences around them.
   – On the iPhone, that meant touch and IMU... On Vision Pro, it's things like gaze, pinch, and resolution.
   – Make these interactions core to the experience, and evolve as new platform functions roll out.
– As for best practices to get started with Vision Pro, Lazzaro has a few key tips to reduce friction.
  – For example, never stop polishing. It's an ongoing process, and the last 10% takes 90% of the rigor.
  – Be prepared to refactor often based on rule changes in the app store and other platform updates.
  – Soft launch in your own region, then expand globally to ease into growth and operational requirements.
  – But don't underestimate the need to localize your experience for different regions' language & culture.
  – Think if you want to be in Apple Arcade (subscription), App Store (premium & IAP), and/or web XR.
  – Study and follow Apple's human interface guidelines (HIG) to boost the chances of App Store approval.
  – Take advantage of Apple's Feedback Assistant to get support and steer the direction of future updates.
  – Also plan to follow App Store requirements – everything from correctly formatted logos to screenshots.
  – Speaking of Store pages, take advantage of optimization features like pre-order pages and A/B testing.
– These are just a few best practices... see the full video below for more depth and color from Lazzaro...
