– VR has proved effective at training employees in various fields and job roles.
– Its efficacy is due to levels of immersion that engender high memory recall.
– This is especially valuable in high-risk fields such as industrial operations.
– There, the stakes are high in making sure front-line workers are well-trained.
– It can also help wherever certifications are required, such as forklift operators.
– But it's easier said than done to initiate and implement VR training programs.
– Requirements include hardware, modeling, interaction design, and MDM.
– Though this involves investment, there's often positive ROI in the benefits
– Those benefits include boosts in skills proficiency and technician confidence.
– They also include a reduction in travel costs and employee onboarding time.
– To quantify a cost/benefit analysis, VR Vision has devised an ROI calculator.
– This level of empirical analysis can help enterprises justify their investment.
– For example, Toyota Material Holdings realized positive ROI in VR training.
– It uses VR to train technicians in key processes across 230+ dealerships.
